Whitsunday Catchment Landcare has a new home in Proserpine
WHITSUNDAY Catchment Landcare Group has relocated from the Whitsunday Regional Council office to the Reef Catchments Office at 45 Main Street, Proserpine.
“Sharing an office with Reef Catchments makes perfect sense. Both our organisations work with landholders, council and other groups to look after the natural resources of the region,” Whitsunday Catchment Landcare (WCL) chair Graham Armstrong said.
Reef Catchment Limited manager John Franklin, who is based in Proserpine, believed being able to work more closely with Landcare would be of real benefit to Reef Catchments.
“We already contract Landcare to deliver revegetation, weed control and other activities for lots of our projects. Instead of picking up the phone I can now walk down the corridor,” Mr Franklin said. “Organisations such as Reef Catchments and WCL work with the community to ensure that together we are looking after our natural resources so that they continue to provide for us in the future.”
Reef Catchmens Cheif Executive Officer Rob Cocco firmly believed working together made the best use of the limited dollars for natural resource management.
“This efficiency is critical when government has limited money and so many priorities to try and balance,” he said.
