Talented lo­cal rid­ers com­pete in Townsville

MEM­BERS of the Whit­sun­day Eques­trian Group (WEG) have at­tended the North Queens­land Eques­trian Group An­nual Showjump­ing Cham­pi­onships in Black River, Townsville at the week­end.

Rid­ers and their families from Cairns to Mackay con­tested the two-day event, with lo­cal mem­bers Sammi War­ren, Ge­orgina Lee, Sa­man­tha Gilchrist, Tori Mans­field and Ken­dell Davies shin­ing bright­est.

WEG pres­i­dent Tracey Davies said the trip north was a great op­por­tu­nity for mem­bers to ex­pe­ri­ence a stronger field of com­pet­i­tive rid­ers.

All WEG par­tic­i­pants rode ex­cep­tion­ally well and re­ceived praise from judges and spec­ta­tors alike. Eques­trian Aus­tralia NCAS showjump­ing coach Evan Parker was also in at­ten­dance, feed­ing rid­ers tips in the prac­tice jump arena.

Ken­dell Davies won the ov- er­all high point score for the 80cm class, tak­ing home a sad­dle cloth and tro­phy rug.

Tori Mans­field was also awarded a gift from the judges for her horses promis­ing future po­ten­tial.
