BAIL has been granted to a man charged with common assault, indecent treatment of a child under the age of 12 and three counts of rape.
The man was brought to Monday’s sitting of the Proserpine Magistrate’s Court in police custody after he was picked up on an arrest warrant.
He is alleged to have committed a common assault offence on February 7, 2012, in Torquay.
Police have also alleged that he indecently assaulted a child under the age of 12 on an unknown date between December 31, 2008 and January 1, 2010. The three rapes are alleged to have occurred on dates between December 31, 2010 and August 1, 2012.
The offender was represented in court by duty lawyer Antoinette Morton of Morton Lawyers.
He pleaded not guilty to the charges and applied for bail.
His bail application was successful, subject to residential and travel conditions.
The charges were transferred back to Hervey Bay, where they will be heard on October 16.
