New function centre to open in the Whitsundays
THIS Saturday will be the gala opening of The Palm House, a multipurpose function venue at BIG4 Adventure Whitsunday Resort.
Up to 100 local tourism and event operators, media and guests from a range of industries are invited to enjoy a gala-style dinner to celebrate the launch of the venue.
Located on Shute Harbour Road, Cannonvale, at the front of BIG4 Adventure Whitsunday Resort, locals will also get a chance to inspect the new facility as The Palm House will host an open week for public viewing the following week.
From Tuesday, September 2 to Friday, September 5, locals will be able to pop in every afternoon between 2-5pm to view different set-ups and to see how flexible the space is for birthday parties, anniversaries, weddings, meetings or corporate events.
The venue’s dedicated group and events team will be on hand during those hours to discuss various function options.
With over a year in the planning and construction stages, The Palm House is set in a large outdoor area among botanic-like gardens and includes a totally flexible building which can be cleverly transformed into smaller more intimate spaces for meetings and parties.
A large commercial kitchen allows for on-site catering and there is also the serene Palm Pavilion which can be utilised for wedding ceremonies and cocktail functions.
Owner Greg McKinnon said he was excited to have the venue completed.
“Those people interested in the history of the area will know that where the building is, has had many prior uses over the years including a horse paddock, veggie garden, swimming pool, soccer pitch and a chook pen. The whole project has seen us utilise local builders and suppliers, an interior designer and put in an enormous effort to create a place we think is very special,” he said.
