Ferry timetable to change this weekend
THE Cruise Whitsundays timetable will change this Sunday, October 5, in line with the southern states changing to Day Light Savings time and corresponding airline schedule changes.
Cruise Whitsundays CEO Nick Hortle said the company went through two major timetable changes per year in order to work in with airline schedules.
“We aim to provide a seamless service as we can for arriving and departing passengers into and out of our two airports for the region, and for that reason our timetable is based around the airline schedules,” he said.
Mr Hortle said Cruise Whitsundays serviced every single arrival and departure for Hamilton Island Airport, and almost all arrivals and departures at the Whitsunday Coast Airport “other than the very early Virgin departure”.
“Our day cruise departures remain pretty much the same, and we have tried to keep as many of the regular commuter times the same to minimise the impact on our regular travellers,” he said.
One notable change is the closure of the office at Shute Harbour. Services between Shute Harbour and Hamilton Island will continue, and passengers departing Shute Harbour will now buy their tickets on board.
Services to and from Long Island will now operate to and from the Port of Airlie.
Mr Hortle said the company had received such positive feedback about its new terminal at Port of Airlie that “due to popular demand we have moved more services to be based from there, meaning it’s not necessary for us to have a physical office at Shute Harbour anymore”.
The new timetable can be found at www.cruisewhitsundays.com and copies are onboard all vessels, at all Cruise Whitsundays offices and terminals and at local agents.
