Council to host garage sales

Whitsunday Times - - COMMUNITY NEWS -

IN LESS than a month, Whitsunday Regional Council will be hosting community garage sales in each of the four townships in the council area – Airlie Beach, proserpine, Bowen and Collinsville.

The sales will be held on October 25 as part of the national Garage Sale Trail.

Mayor Jenny Whitney said they had already had interest from quite a few community members who had registered online.

“It’s free to bring your ute or car boot or set up a table or blanket full of stuff to sell. You’ll be able to get rid of some unwanted items, make some money and might even purchase some treasure from someone else.

“Whitsunday Regional Libraries will have books, magazines and DVDs on offer with prices starting from 20 cents.

“Each of the four community garage sales are setup as events on the Garage Sale Trail website and interested people can say they are attending as a stall holder.

Garage Sale Trail, a national day of simultaneous garage sales, is now in its 4th year and upwards of 350,000 people are expected to take part in the initiative across Australia, with 120 Councils involved.

You can register to sell at one of these community events or setup your own Garage Sale by going to garagesaletrail.com.au
