THE time has come for the annual three-day Whitsunday Offshore Yacht Racing Circuit (WOYRC) series, which will be held over the upcoming long weekend from October 4-6.

The popular event, supported this year by Advanced Alarms Mackay, combines the Whitsunday Sailing Club, Hamilton Island Cruising Yacht Club, Mackay Yacht Club and Bowen’s North Queensland Cruising Yacht Club, with members from all clubs encouraged to take part.

Whitsunday Sailing Club Commodore Jim Hayes said everyone looked forward to joining in with the other clubs and sailing against different yachts during the event.

“The WOYRC Series really promotes camaraderie within the regional sailing clubs and we enjoy working with them to put on this great event each year,” he said.

Participating yachts will undertake three challenging legs of the series, starting at Bowen and finishing in Mackay.

Boats will visit the Whitsunday Sailing Club in Airlie Beach and Hamilton Island along the way. The boat with the best score from the three races will win the series.

The Notice of Race and registration forms are available on the Whitsunday Sailing Club website or at the clubhouse and entries close on Friday.
