Proserpine bowlers winners in Collinsville
SHANE Spann’s Proserpine Bowls Club team has returned from Collinsville as winners.
The team of Proserpine bowlers, consisting of Martin Corr, Wayne Handley and Gavin Milne, took out Saturday’s competition.
On Sunday afternoon the club held its first Sponsors Thank You Social bowls, which featured a barbecue. Noelie Dibben, Gail Camm and Kevin Thorogood took down John Penhallurick, Reg Russell and Maree Daffara 24-8; Trudy Hanne, Arthur Williams, Dot Hinschen and Joy Jeffries ousted Norma Daniels, Dale Haack, John Dammash and Ross Reville 15-10; Michael Faust, John Henderson and Wayne Handley defeated Sherry Faust, John Lahney and Joan McGrath 15-8 while Kim Porter, Fran Por- ter and Philip Brown took the points over Mark Porter, Flo O’Hanlon and Barbara Dammash 26-5.
Barbara Dammash’s team won the Sunday trophy for the lowest score.
The club’s AGM was scheduled to take place on Sunday however has been postponed until Sunday, October 5 due to a lack of numbers.
Last Tuesday, four of the club’s ladies travelled to Wangaratta to celebrate their Presidents at Home Day.
Noelie Dibben, Flo O’Hanlon, Joy Jeffries and Fran Porter had a wonderful day.
Closer to home, Norma Daniels, Janet Mortimer, Heather Patullo and Heather Brown played in the Mackay District Springtime Carnival at Sarina.
The girls won all three games and came away with fifth place. Last Wednesday a small but cheerful field played at the Proserpine Bowls Club, with Cathy Holmes, John Lahney, Joyce Patullo and Joan McGrath defeating Fran Porter, Norma Daniels, Arthur Williams and Dot Hinschen 24-16.
In other news, the Intertown Shield team includes Noelie Dibben, Flo O’Hanlon and Heather Brown; Janet Mortimer, Heather Patullo and Maree Daffara; Norma Daniels, Joy Jeffries and Joan McGrath. In the first round Proserpine will play Wangaratta followed by St Helens and then Airlie Beach on Tuesday, October 7. Players are also reminded about Trivia Night on Saturday, October 11. Those interested are urged to contact Fran Porter or Heather Brown.
Next Wednesday the club will be celebrating life member Flo O’Hanlon’s day.
