John Godfrey returns to Whitsunday Sailing Club

Whitsunday Times - - CHILL -

LOCAL performer John Godfrey will delight audiences with his mixture of blues and jazz tomorrow night at the Whitsunday Sailing Club.

Godfrey is a regular performer at the sailing club and one who always leaves the crowd wanting more.

Playing covers from admired artists George Benson, John Mayer and Nina Simone, Godfrey likes to mix up his sets with original tracks too.

After a stint in Perth where he performed regularly, Godfrey came back to the Whitsundays at the beginning of the year.

He is also a multi-instrumentalist playing the piano, guitar, bass guitar and mandolin.

Godfrey said local venues seemed to keep on booking him because of his up-tempo bluesy style.

“They get a variety of easy-listening music which is what you want when having dinner,” he said.

“I just try to have fun and express my true feelings with every show.”

Godfrey prides himself on audiences receiving quality music, different to that played in the main street of Airlie Beach.

He is also a regular at Banjo's Bar and Bistro, the Anchor Bar and Sorrento’s Restaurant and Bar.

Having performed for 25 years, he has no plans to slow down any time soon.
