Aces aplenty on tennis courts
THE school holidays have provided an increase in tennis traffic over recent weeks, with a swarm of social players hitting the courts.
Last Tuesday afternoon produced a round of scintillating tennis, with the boys and girls executing stunning forehands and strong backhands.
Tuesday night featured a top match between Tad Nowicki and Thomas Koeck, while Thursday night tennis had the likes of Daniel Scott, Keith Miles, Chris Phillips and Matt Newton on show for a round of doubles.
Saturday afternoon topped the week off with all courts in action.
The club welcomed back Norm Hold and introduced a newcomer in Raylene Rasmussen. Jenny Southern also joined the Saturday afternoon crew, who executed a series of long rallies.
In junior tennis news, training over the school holidays proved a success, with players aged five-15 all thriving. Jessica Renton, Emma Carr, Jesse Nicholson and Cooper Friend were stars, showing they can well and truly match it with the best.
The coaching pupils for the week were Patrick and Matthew Cowan for consistent lessons.
The club would also like to congratulate juniors Amy Hungerford, Emma Bradtke, Rebeka Beveridge and Matthew Henning for their efforts in tournaments in Townsville and Ayr over the school holidays.
Fit, Fun Tennis – the upbeat cardio workout on a tennis court, resumes tonight from 6.30pm and will continue on Friday at 9am.
