Cannons make a splash in Pioneer
THE Cannonvale Cannons have completed their first carnival of the season, taking to Pioneer at the weekend.
All swimmers performed well in Mackay, and are inspired to better themselves ahead of more events on the Swimming North Queensland calendar.
Dylan Barbeler was one of the stars from the weekend, winning three events while placing in two others.
Angus Menzies also impressed, taking home a series of placings across individual medley, butterfly, backstroke and breaststroke events – including two firsts.
Piper O’Grady made a name for herself in Mackay, finishing top three in a staggering eight events.
Piper’s haul included wins backstroke and two breaststroke events.
Madeline McGoldrick also made a splash, winning butterfly, freestyle, two backstroke and breaststroke races.
Mikhaila Flint claimed a hattrick of wins to accompany her second in what was a strong return.
Chloe Robertson and Hannah Crittenden were also lively on the weekend, taking home a combined five placings.
The weekend’s carnival also hosted the junior excellence level 2 squad, with Jordan Menzies, Ainslee and Dylan Barbeler, Piper O’Grady and Chloe Robertson taking part.
The Cannons have resumed training in Cannonvale.
