Can­nons make a splash in Pi­o­neer

THE Can­non­vale Can­nons have com­pleted their first car­ni­val of the sea­son, tak­ing to Pi­o­neer at the week­end.

All swim­mers per­formed well in Mackay, and are in­spired to bet­ter them­selves ahead of more events on the Swimming North Queens­land cal­en­dar.

Dy­lan Bar­beler was one of the stars from the week­end, win­ning three events while plac­ing in two oth­ers.

An­gus Men­zies also im­pressed, tak­ing home a se­ries of plac­ings across in­di­vid­ual med­ley, but­ter­fly, back­stroke and breast­stroke events – in­clud­ing two firsts.

Piper O’Grady made a name for her­self in Mackay, fin­ish­ing top three in a stag­ger­ing eight events.

Piper’s haul in­cluded wins back­stroke and two breast­stroke events.

Made­line McGoldrick also made a splash, win­ning but­ter­fly, freestyle, two back­stroke and breast­stroke races.

Mikhaila Flint claimed a hat­trick of wins to ac­com­pany her sec­ond in what was a strong re­turn.

Chloe Robert­son and Han­nah Crit­ten­den were also lively on the week­end, tak­ing home a com­bined five plac­ings.

The week­end’s car­ni­val also hosted the ju­nior ex­cel­lence level 2 squad, with Jor­dan Men­zies, Ainslee and Dy­lan Bar­beler, Piper O’Grady and Chloe Robert­son tak­ing part.

The Can­nons have re­sumed train­ing in Can­non­vale.
