Flem­ing tees-off to win vet’s play

TOM Flem­ing was the toast of the veteran golfers this week, scor­ing 36-points to win the 18-hole com­pe­ti­tion on Tues­day.

Flem­ing fin­ished ahead of Caro­line Awdry, Vic Feld­man (32), Jim Dow­ell, An­drew McKay, Barry Mor­timer (28) and Herb Se­comb (27) at the Proser­pine Golf Club.

Flem­ing also net­ted a near­est-the-pin flag, as did Caro­line Awdry – who sim­i­larly won the nine-hole com­pe­ti­tion.

Caro­line Awdry carded 18 to fin­ish ahead of Jim Dow­ell (17), Barry Mor­timer (16), Tom Flem­ing, Trevor Paroz, Bill Woods (15) and Rus­sell Reardon (14).

Caro­line Awdry com­pleted her stel­lar day by win­ning a near­est-the-pin, join­ing Al­lan Greedy with a prize.

Last Thurs­day the Proser­pine club wrapped up the Cro­ker Shield with round 4 of play at Pi­o­neer Val­ley.

Proser­pine won by points.

Next week is a nor­mal week at the club, while play­ers will head to Home Hill on Oc­to­ber 21.
