Lee wins back-to-back in Marrabel
PROSERPINE cowboy Owen Lee has won back-toback Marrabel Rodeo titles after triumphing once again at the weekend.
Lee dominated the historic rodeo in South Australia, notching a win on bareback horse ‘Calamity’.
The win came as a huge breakthrough for Lee, who had previously finished second in his past five events.
“She [Calamity] was tough and I went into it determined. Especially after winning last year and it being such a highpaying rodeo,” Lee said.
“I really exposed myself when I was stirring, so it was all or nothing. I wasn’t going out for second place.”The win boosts Lee up to third on the overall Australian Pro Tour rankings for this season, and within touching distance of a hefty cash windfall.
Next weekend Lee will tackle an amateur rodeo in Woodford before heading to the next pro show in Warwick, where he will be joined by fellow local Roy Dunn.
“A tough horse this weekend has got me confident coming into Warwick,” he said.
