Game fish club prepares for annual tournament
THE ANNUAL Whitsunday Game Fish Club Light Tackle Tournament is set to reel in great attendance once again this year.
Co-ordinator and life member of the club, Bob Spees, was excited ahead of this year’s action.
“We’ve got lots of new people coming along this year,” Mr Spees said. Mr Spees said he hoped people fresh to the sport of game fishing would attend and get involved. He assured any new participants would have the chance to learn how to catch courtesy of a free marlin rigging night on Friday at 6.30pm at the Volunteer Marine Rescue Club (VMR).
“We really want to introduce people to the sport,” he said.
“I’ll be out there with my five-year-old grandson.” It all starts next Thursday, October 23, at the VMR with finger food and a briefing on the events before fishing kicks off on Friday at 7am.
Senior tournament entry costs $150 with juniors at $75 and crew packs at $80. Entries close this Friday. For more information visit www.facebook.com/pages/Whitsunday-Game-FishClub.
