Game fish club pre­pares for an­nual tour­na­ment

THE AN­NUAL Whit­sun­day Game Fish Club Light Tackle Tour­na­ment is set to reel in great attendance once again this year.

Co-or­di­na­tor and life mem­ber of the club, Bob Spees, was ex­cited ahead of this year’s ac­tion.

“We’ve got lots of new peo­ple com­ing along this year,” Mr Spees said. Mr Spees said he hoped peo­ple fresh to the sport of game fish­ing would at­tend and get in­volved. He as­sured any new par­tic­i­pants would have the chance to learn how to catch cour­tesy of a free mar­lin rig­ging night on Fri­day at 6.30pm at the Vol­un­teer Marine Res­cue Club (VMR).

“We re­ally want to in­tro­duce peo­ple to the sport,” he said.

“I’ll be out there with my five-year-old grand­son.” It all starts next Thurs­day, Oc­to­ber 23, at the VMR with fin­ger food and a brief­ing on the events be­fore fish­ing kicks off on Fri­day at 7am.
