Offbeach members sail a solid regatta

Whitsunday Times - - ON THE WATER -

SAILORS from the Whitsunday Sailing Club’s (WSC) offbeach division are back from contesting the Sail Townsville North Queensland Sprint Regatta.

The regatta attracted more than 60 boats over the weekend of October 4 and 5.

Competitors enjoyed near perfect conditions, with the entire regatta sailed in 15-20 knots of wind.

WSC offbeach sailor Luke Mairs said some fantastic results were achieved by the Whitsunday sailors over the weekend.

“Aaron Linton skippered a team to a con- vincing victory in the Taser class [and] in the Arrow catamarans, Daniel Townsend sailed a solid regatta to earn a well deserved second [place],” he said.

Mairs, his brother Tristram and fellow WSC sailor Sean O'Reagan, also made the journey to Townsville, sailing their Lasers throughout the weekend.

According to Mairs, Sabots were the largest fleet, in which Daniel Moran achieved an impressive second place, amid tough competition.
