Awards aplenty at outrigger presentations
THE Outrigger Whitsunday club held its presentation night at the weekend, celebrating a myriad of achievements throughout the season.
Club president Renee Martin was happy with proceedings at the Jubilee Tavern on Friday night.
“We had a fantastic turnout of junior and senior members,” she said.
“The effort everyone has put in to get the club where it is. The club members are proving themselves and have put in such a great effort.”
Brooke Draper was the most improved junior girl, while the boy’s award went to Daniel Norder.
The junior paddler of the year was given to Ashleigh Suchanek.
Of the seniors, Nicole Brown and Blair Mitchell won most improved female and male awards, while the women’s paddlers of the year were Alison Joyce and Nicole Brown.
Nick Bellinger was the men’s paddler of the year while dedicated volunteers Michelle Lynes and Renee Martin were acknowledged with the club person of the year award.
The president’s encouragement award went to Sienna and Layla Huson.
Outrigger Whitsunday also recognised Dale Mitchell and Phil and Trish Cornish for their efforts throughout the season.
The club’s sponsors, the Airlie Beach Hotel, Jubilee Tavern, Abell Point Marina and Big4, were presented with club photos for their support.
