Fun times at Magnums with fresh local band
LOCAL musicians Mark and Bek Roberts have joined forces with drummer Pete Vincent and together, as Tropic Temple, the trio are preparing to bring down the house at Airlie’s Magnums Hotel.
“Mark and I have been playing together for nine years but now we’ve got a new drummer and a fresh new look,” Bek Roberts explained.
Describing Pete Vincent, who also plays in originals band The Corey Harris Trio, as “vibrant” and “hilarious”, Bek Roberts said the new dynamic “just really works”.
“He’s just brought a whole new feel to the band –and we’re having a ball,” she said.
Having a ball is exactly what the band expects to do at their upcoming Magnums gig this Saturday, October 18.
Bek Roberts said the trio would throw some costumes on, dress up and put on a visual show.
She also said they were especially looking forward to playing for the Magnums crowd.
“They’re a great crowd – they always get involved and we have a lot of fun with them,” she said.
“I usually get off the stage and get in and dance with them – they’re a really responsive crowd and we get a lot out of them – it’s great.”
Tropic Temple are a covers band playing music from the 80’s and the present day. They will be playing from 6-10pm and there is no cover charge.
