I read with dismay that the Whitsunday Shire Council is to adopt parking fees for Port of Airlie.
Don't they realise what a disincentive this is to both tourists and locals alike?
Abell Point Marina, and now Port of Airlie, are the only marinas along the east coast of Queensland where you have to pay to park your car.
And of course, I'll bet the fishermen can park their cars and trailers which take up to three times the space of a car and pay nothing. This is discrimination. If I want to go on a 10 day charter holiday, I have to make special arrangements with council. What a joke.
It shouldn't be all about the money, you know. Judith Backway MIDGEPOINT
