Open Day Fair exceeds expectations
WHITSUNDAY Christian College’s Open Day Fair was a great success.
More than 1500 people attended the college grounds on Saturday to inspect the premises and make the most of the entertainment, games and festival food on offer.
Whitsunday Christian College principal Nathan McDonald said the fair exceeded his expectations.
“Our staff worked very hard to ensure the day was a fantastic experience for everyone who attended, and the feedback received from the Whitsunday community has been overwhelmingly positive,” he said.
The Open Day Fair had something for everyone and ensured the whole family had a fun time.
“It was a privilege to showcase the college’s modern facilities, creative classroom displays and amazing staff,” he said.
The entertainment provided on stage throughout the event was a hit which ranged from individual instrumental performances through to group dances, choirs and the staff band.
The kiss the pig competition was also a highlight for Whitsunday Christian College students.
In the end Whitsunday Christian College deputy principal James van Gelderen had the most money in his jar and had to kiss the pig.
Mr McDonald said the two main goals for the Open Day Fair was to showcase the college to the Whitsunday community and to celebrate the wonderful school the college’s students, parents and staff were a part of.
“We work hard to ensure each student has a place to belong and feels connected therefore there is a close relationship between college staff and students, which was seen in how students interacted with our teachers running various stalls,” he said.
The evening concluded with fireworks supplied by Above Ground Zero.
Whitsunday Christian College’s next major event will be the Middle Phase (Year 7-9) Information Night held at the college hall on Wednesday, November 5.
