Bikes, bulls, bug­gys and bands

The first ever Cen­tral Queens­land ‘Bikes, Bulls, Bug­gys and Bands’ (CQBBBB), will be held this week­end at Don­ny­brook Sta­tion, south of the Whit­sun­days on the Peak Downs High­way and 45 min­utes from Mackay.

The event, from Oc­to­ber 2426, is a week­end camp­ing fes­ti­val fea­tur­ing mo­tor­bike rac­ing, bull rid­ing, off road four­wheel-drive rac­ing and awe­some live mu­sic, in­clud­ing a se­lec­tion of acts on the Air­lie Beach Mu­sic Fes­ti­val line-up.

Mo­tor­bike events will in­clude flat track and en­duro rac­ing and su­per-charged dirt drags. There will also be rac­ing events for the kids.

Off road four-wheel-drive events will in­clude mud and four-wheel-drive track tri­als.

The Bullarama events in­clude open, rookie and ju­nior bull rides as well as an 11-14 steer ride.

The Bullarama will kick off after the ‘Bikes and Bug­gys’ events fin­ish at 4pm on both Fri­day and Satur­day and will run un­til 7pm.

This will be fol­lowed by live mu­sic from the likes of Ma­son Rack, Lance Friend, Ra­zor, Kieran McCarthy, the Coal Train Ban­dits and award win­ning band The Kut­ta­billys.

Or­gan­is­ers say with its mix of two and four-wheeled ac- tion dur­ing the day and the bullara­mas and bands at night, ‘Bikes, Bulls, Bug­gys and Bands’ is sure to be a suc­cess.

Don­ny­brook Sta­tion own­ers and CQBBBB pro­mot­ers Doug and Terri Robke have been con­struct­ing the tracks and fa­cil­i­ties for well over a year and are ex­pect­ing a huge turn out from spec­ta­tors and com­peti­tors alike.

The CQBBBB is a fam­i­lyfriendly fes­ti­val of­fer­ing 40 acres of free camp­ing for ticket-hold­ers among the rolling grass lands and shady trees.

Camp­ing fa­cil­i­ties will in­clude toi­lets and show­ers and an ice truck. All events are cen­trally lo­cated and able to be viewed from the li­censed bar and food ar­eas.

Gates open to­mor­row, Fri­day Oc­to­ber 24, at 9am, and tick­ets are avail­able for the en­tire three-day event or just as a sin­gle day pass.
