Bikes, bulls, buggys and bands
The first ever Central Queensland ‘Bikes, Bulls, Buggys and Bands’ (CQBBBB), will be held this weekend at Donnybrook Station, south of the Whitsundays on the Peak Downs Highway and 45 minutes from Mackay.
The event, from October 2426, is a weekend camping festival featuring motorbike racing, bull riding, off road fourwheel-drive racing and awesome live music, including a selection of acts on the Airlie Beach Music Festival line-up.
Motorbike events will include flat track and enduro racing and super-charged dirt drags. There will also be racing events for the kids.
Off road four-wheel-drive events will include mud and four-wheel-drive track trials.
The Bullarama events include open, rookie and junior bull rides as well as an 11-14 steer ride.
The Bullarama will kick off after the ‘Bikes and Buggys’ events finish at 4pm on both Friday and Saturday and will run until 7pm.
This will be followed by live music from the likes of Mason Rack, Lance Friend, Razor, Kieran McCarthy, the Coal Train Bandits and award winning band The Kuttabillys.
Organisers say with its mix of two and four-wheeled ac- tion during the day and the bullaramas and bands at night, ‘Bikes, Bulls, Buggys and Bands’ is sure to be a success.
Donnybrook Station owners and CQBBBB promoters Doug and Terri Robke have been constructing the tracks and facilities for well over a year and are expecting a huge turn out from spectators and competitors alike.
The CQBBBB is a familyfriendly festival offering 40 acres of free camping for ticket-holders among the rolling grass lands and shady trees.
Camping facilities will include toilets and showers and an ice truck. All events are centrally located and able to be viewed from the licensed bar and food areas.
Gates open tomorrow, Friday October 24, at 9am, and tickets are available for the entire three-day event or just as a single day pass.
Tickets can be purchased online at www.mackayecc.com.au.
