WHITSUNDAY TENNIS

BLUSTERY conditions didn’t stop the Cannonvale Courts from hosting a busy week of tennis action.

Trish Rouse returned to duty on Tuesday while Saturday saw long rallies between Rae Miller, Merle Foot, Kay Hoare and Larry Maddigan.

Tuesday night social tennis saw Rick Galea return to the courts, mixing in with Keith Miles, Matthew Newton and Darren Rusk for an entertaining round of doubles.

Thursday night saw Norm Hold and Daniel Scott take centre court in what was an amazing match of doubles – a treat for spectators.

Wednesday afternoon had all four courts in action.

The match of the afternoon saw Rebeka Beveridge and Daniel Cullen take on Matthew Henning and Sam Dinnie.

It was a serve and volley affair, with Cullen reeling off vicious shots in tandem with Beveridge’s stellar serving game.

Fit, Fun Tennis – the upbeat cardio workout on a tennis court – was a steady affair on Thursday night.

Friday saw Leigh Kane as the only male on court, in what was a fierce workout.

The coaching pupil of the week was Isaac Benson for his fabulous forehands.

Children from the Whitsunday PCYC also stopped by last week, enjoying a fun day of tennis.

Last Tuesday saw students test their handeye co-ordination in a tennis environment.
