PGA golf event on Dent

THE PGA Pro­fes­sion­als Cham­pi­onship na­tional fi­nal will wrap-up at Hamil­ton Is­land Golf Club on Dent Is­land to­day.

In just its sec­ond year, the 36-hole event at the Hamil­ton Is­land Golf Club at­tracted 50 pro­fes­sion­als and 50 am­a­teur play­ers, vy­ing for the $50,000 prize and a place in the Aus­tralian PGA Cham­pi­onship, to be played at RACV Royal Pines Re­sort on the Gold Coast in De­cem­ber.

The win­ner and the run­ner-up of to- day’s event will be ex­empt into the field where Adam Scott will de­fend his ti­tle along­side a host of do­mes­tic and in­ter­na­tional golf­ing stars.

Devon­port Golf Club head pro­fes­sional Dar­ren Spencer led the cham­pi­onship after round one, card­ing an even par 71 to lead from 2012 win­ner Nathan King (72), Michael Farone, Matthew Dock­ing, Ni­cholas Robb and David Van Raalte (73).
