Money for lo­cal arts

WHIT­SUN­DAY artists will have ac­cess to $64,000 in grants for the 2014-15 fi­nan­cial year, un­der the Re­gional Arts De­vel­op­ment Fund (RADF).

Whit­sun­day Mayor Jen­nifer Whit­ney said coun­cil had com­mit­ted $25,927, as in pre­vi­ous years, which guar­an­teed the Queens­land Gov­ern­ment com­mit­ment of $38,073.

Mayor Whit­ney said the RADF pro­gram pro­vided fund­ing for the de­vel­op­ment of artis­tic and cul­tural ac­tiv­i­ties in the Whit­sun­day re­gion as well as through­out re­gional Queens­land.

“The pro­gram sup­ports lo­cally de­ter­mined re­gional arts and cul­tural de­vel­op­ment op­por­tu­ni­ties by pro­vid­ing dis­crete, short term, project based fi­nan­cial as­sis­tance,” she said.

In­di­vid­u­als and or­gan­i­sa­tions are en­cour­aged to seek as­sis­tance for a range of ini­tia­tives in­clud­ing exhibitions, short term work­shops, re­search and pro­mo­tion and more.

The cur­rent round of RADF grants closes on Novem­ber 17 for projects start­ing after De­cem­ber 22. More in­for­ma­tion is avail­able at­ing/rad­f­com­mit­tees.
