Whitsunday Times - - ON THE WATER -

ALMOST $4000 was raised at the Whitsunday Sailing Club’s offbeach auction held on Friday, October 24.

Organisers described the event – a fundraiser for junior members of the sailing club, as a complete success.

Money raised will be donated to five juniors – Brendan Hoffman, Lachlin McConnel, Aidan and Ty Gummow and Hamish Swain.

It will be used to help the sailors with the cost of attending their respective championships in Western Australia early next year.

Brendan and Lachlin, both 29’er sailors will be contesting the National titles in Jervoise Bay, while Optimist sailors Aidan, Ty and Hamish will compete in the Australian Optimist Championships, hosted by Freemantle Sailing Club.

The parents of the sailors thanked the Whitsunday Sailing Club for their ongoing support and were also extremely grateful to the local businesses in both Airlie Beach and Bowen that donated items to auction on the night.
