Gamefish tournament a huge success
THE REELAX Garmin 2014 Light Tackle Game Fish Tournament proved a hit at the weekend, with fishers already asking for more.
On a wild, wet weekend in pristine conditions more than 120 people hit the water for the annual competition which kicked off on Friday morning.
The VMR fired the shotgun and participants didn’t stop until Sunday afternoon.
Whitsunday Game Fish Club member Bob Spees is already anticipating big things for 2015 following another popular event. “It’s going to be even bigger,” Mr Spees said.
“A lot of people are already asking about it.”
Mr Spees labelled this year’s tournament a huge success and a massive boost for the Whitsundays with visitors from across Queensland competing.
“It’s great for the Whitsundays,” he said.
“People came from Cairns, Townsville and Brisbane so it brings people to the area.”
A PIRATE'S LIFE: Wayne Juppenlatz, Ryan Kelly, Sherman Wong, John Moore and Pat Logan were just some of the crews who dressed up for the tournament.
