AFL and league teams ready for sport showdown
A GROUP of Proserpine State High School students are attempting to settle an age-old argument.
The boys have organised a face-off between the region’s under-16 AFL and rugby league teams in a bid to determine which sport is better.
The Sea Eagles will defend their honour this weekend at the Whitsunday Sportspark while the junior Brahmans will get their chance the following weekend.
“The Brahmans approached us to play a game to find out who’s better,” Whitsunday Sea Eagles player Terrence Neil said.
“We’ve always had petty arguments so we thought why don’t we sort it out and find out which one is better.”
Terrence was confident his AFL compatriots would get the job done this weekend, but wasn’t so sure ahead of the league encounter next week.
“I reckon the Sea Eagles should take it,” he said.
“We’d never hear the end of it, but it would be the same if we beat them, we wouldn’t let them forget it.”
This weekend’s match will take place at the Whitsunday Sportspark from 10am.
