Hand­i­caps fall­ing after strong round

WHIT­SUN­DAY GOLF

HAND­I­CAPS are set to tum­ble fol­low­ing a se­ries of low scores in last week’s Oc­to­ber Monthly Medal.

Whit­sun­day Golf Club mem­bers took to the Proser­pine Golf Club on Sun­day, where Ernie Hol­stein claimed the men’s A-grade ti­tle on 69.

Ross Richards was run­ner-up with 73, while best gross went to Kym Hill and Ross Richards claimed the long­est drive.

Reg Kercher topped the Bgrade field with 67, fin­ish­ing just one shot clear of Ian Giles. David Hoy capped a strong day, win­ning the best gross score and long­est drive prizes.

Ti­ina Rand­mae was the ladies’ win­ner, card­ing 64 and pick­ing up the long­est drive. Jac­qui Wall was run­ner-up with 69 while Linda Wardroper claimed the best gross score. Near­est-thep­ins went to Wayne Temby (9 and 2), Ross Richards (13 and 16) and Jac­qui Wall (16).

This Sun­day the club will host the first round of the Pres­i­dent’s Cup Se­ries, start­ing with Sin­gles Match Play.

Cap­tains Ross Richards and Rod Wecker will ad­vise their team mem­bers of their rank­ings for the week.

Tee-off is at 7.30am.
