Rusk ral­lies a storm on the court

DAR­REN Rusk gave his younger coun­ter­parts a run for their money last week, dom­i­nat­ing Tues­day night’s play.

Rusk took on all com­ers in a sharp round of con­stant sin­gles, where David Nolan and Sam Din­nie were among those left stand­ing.

The dar­ing dou­bles for­mat saw Darcy Larkin and Matthew Hen­ning take brag­ging rights, while Matthew New­ton and David Nolan were hot on their heels.

In other news, Satur­day proved an event­ful day on the courts, with a host of ex­cit­ing matches high­light­ing play.

‘New­sos’ Matt New­ton and Kea­gan Ryan took to the courts in the morn­ing for an en­er­getic round, run­ning down plenty of balls in a lively en­counter.

The af­ter­noon was equally as en­ter­tain­ing, with John and Ch­eryl West, Gra­ham Cur­tis and Rae Miller tak­ing cen­tre court.

Tues­day and Satur­day af­ter­noon so­cial ten­nis were well at­tended, led by Glo­ria and Glen Cowan on Tues­day.

Mixed dou­bles was the or­der of the af­ter­noon, where the ladies more than held their own.

Thurs­day night was a jovial af­fair, led by Daniel Scott, Norm Hold and Les­ley Nolan.

Fit, Fun Ten­nis – the up­beat car­dio work­out on a ten­nis court – was low on num­bers on Thurs­day night, but Fri­day morn­ing saw play­ers turn out in droves.

Aaron Black­burn was the lone ranger for the ladies in what was a busy work­out.

Manahi Ball was the Coach­ing Pupil of the Week, for as­sist­ing the young mem­bers of the ‘Brekky Group’ in their re­turn of serves last week.
