JIM Quod and Shane Spann have tri­umped un­der lights to de­feat Steve Lawrie and Ted Cullen.

Quod and Spann won Fri­day night’s semi-fi­nal of the B Pairs at the Proser­pine Bowls Club, cruis­ing past their op­po­nents 31-13.

The fi­nal of the B Pairs will be played ei­ther to­day or to­mor­row, in or­der to have the com­pe­ti­tion com­pleted be­fore the B Pairs Cham­pion of Cham­pi­ons in Air­lie Beach at the week­end.

Last week­end two teams trav­elled to Bowen to contest the Bowen Clas­sic Fours. Nathan Dodds, Martin Corr, Wayne Han­d­ley and Shane Spann were in con­tention for the ma­jor prize; how­ever fell short, los­ing the last game by just one shot.

A draw would’ve put them in first; how­ever the team was forced to set­tle for sec­ond place with four wins from the week­end.

On Sun­day, 12 play­ers en­joyed a round of so­cial play at Proser­pine.

Fran Porter, John Hen­der­son and Heather Brown took down John Lah­ney, Gail Camm and Philip Brown 22-16 while Trudy Hanne, Dot Hin­schen and Barry Zill­mann ousted Norma Daniels, Arthur Wil­liams and Ma­ree Daf­fara 24-11.

The Val and Jean De Boni Day will be played on Satur­day, Novem­ber 8.

Those in­ter­ested in play­ing are urged to reg­is­ter for the mixed fours com­pe­ti­tion.


Last Wed­nes­day saw 21 ladies en­joy Life Mem­ber Pam Selmes’ af­ter­noon of bowls.

This was played as two games of 10 ends.

The first game saw Trudy Hanne, Lill Burke, Heather Pat­ullo and Heather Pat­ullo draw with An­nette Pat­ullo, Philip Brown and Ma­ree Daf­fara 10-10 while Amy Hart, Janet Mor­timer, Lois Read and Joy Jef­fries de­feated Car­lie Al­bert­son, Arthur Wil­liams and Gail Camm 15-5. John Lah­ney, Fran Porter, Norma Daniels and Bar­bara Dam­mash took down Cathy Holmes, Flo O’Han­lon and Dot Hin­schen 10-6 to round out the af­ter­noon.

After a de­li­cious af­ter­noon tea the sec­ond game was played.

Joy Jef­fries’ team drew with Dot Hin­schen’s team 12-12; Ma­ree Daf­fara’s team drew with Gail Camm’s team 6-6 and Bar­bara Dam­mash’s team knocked over Heather Brown’s team 10-9.

The two scores for each team were com­bined, and the win­ners were Joy Jef­fries’ team with 27.

In sec­ond was Heather Brown’s team, fin­ish­ing on 19.

To­day the Friend­ship Shield will be played at the Proser­pine Bowls Club against St He­lens. Next week (Wed­nes­day, Novem­ber 5) a Con­sis­tency Sin­gles game be­tween Lois Read and Heather Brown will be played.

Also in the Se­nior Sin­gles will be Norma Daniels against Dot Hin­schen.

In other news, the club ad­vises that those in­ter­ested in at­tend­ing next week’s Mel­bourne Cup func­tion to book tick­ets.
