New property group in town
WHEN Ogilvy Properties managing director Airlie Norton first moved to the Whitsunday region more than eight years ago, she was embarrassed to live in a town that shared her name.
However, she discovered that it inspired her and initiated her career as a property manager.
She has now decided to start a new property management business in the region, Ogilvy Properties, which opened this week.
Airlie Norton has been involved in the property management and real estate industry for more than 12 years and she says Ogilvy Properties is not just another real estate agency.
“We don’t have a sales arm so we cater solely to property management,” she said.
“In other places around the world property management and sales have always been separated and there is absolutely no reason why larger coastal towns shouldn’t be offered the same,” she said.
Ms Norton said it was important to separate property management from the sales department because it was counter-productive.
“One half of [the] business is trying to sell your property and the other half is suppose to be managing it and looking after it to maximise its optimum rent
“As I am a tenant myself and have worked as a property manager, it’s something I feel it’s solely lacking in the area,” she said.
Ms Norton’s objective with Ogilvy Properties is to grow, develop and maintain a high quality property management portfolio.
She decided to call on her Scottish heritage and the local history of the area to create the business.
The business is named Ogilvy Properties after the first settlers in the region, who were Ogilvys according to Ms Norton. Ms Norton said the Earl of Airlie is the chief of the Ogilvy clan in Scotland and the family seat is Airlie Castle, which was the inspiration for her name and the name of this town.
Ogilvy Properties is located at suite 11 at the 121 Business Centre. For more information email Airlie Norton at firstname.lastname@example.org.
