Junior Raiders star in Mackay
WHITSUNDAY’S junior Raiders have flexed their muscle against the region’s best youngsters at the weekend.
Saturday saw the Whitsunday Junior Rugby Union Club travel to Quarry Hill for games against Kuttabul, Slade Point, Brothers, Cities and Mackay.
Scores weren’t recorded on the day while Queensland Reds’ players Jamie-Jerry Taulagi and Chris Feauai-Sautia were also in attendance.
Koby Johnson, Jessie Nicholson and Evan Beale led the way for the under-6s while the under-8’s matches saw Troy Briskie, Zach Teakle and Keenan Coetzee star.
The under-10 Greens were well represented by Louie Archer, Tallon Della and Macauly Wake while Ethan Hoffman, Campbell Wilson and Regin Pratt stole the show for the Whites.
Lachlan Skead, Jack Ryan and Connor Spence had strong games for the under-12s while Ben Cornish, Aden Spence and Jack Kearns starred for the under-14s.
This weekend the Raiders will host teams from Mackay on Friday night and Saturday afternoon at the Whitsunday Sportspark.
The under-14s and 16s will take to the field on Friday night while under-6s-12s will get their chance on Saturday against two Mackay representative outfits.
In other news, Fraser Ford will be raising money for the junior club on Saturday with a special promotion.
Fraser Ford will donate $40 for every test drive completed at Saturday’s carnival – between 2.30pm and 6pm.
