Tourist suffers seizure on dive
A 31-YEAR-OLD Chinese tourist is lucky to be alive after nearly drowning off Hayman Island on Saturday.
The man, who was with his wife in a private tour group, suffered a suspected seizure while diving in the early hours of the morning.
RACQ CQ Rescue were called to the incident at 10am when it became clear he was in need of further medical attention.
He was transported to Hayman Island by boat where the rescue helicopter could land safely.
The man was treated at the scene by CQ Rescue’s on-board doctor and emergency paramedic.
He was air-lifted to the Mackay Base Hospital in a stable condition for further treatment and observation.
At the time of going to press on Wednesday afternoon, he had not been discharged from hospital but was still regarded to be in a stable condition.
