One drink too many

THREE driv­ers have run the gaunt­let of driv­ing while over the legal al­co­hol limit on Whit­sun­day roads in the past week.

The first was a 31-year-old Strathdickie man, in­ter­cepted on Blair Street, Proser­pine, at 5.30pm on Fe­bru­ary 24, with a read­ing of 0.118. At 7.30pm on Fe­bru­ary 25, a 30-year-old New South Wales man blew 0.069 af­ter he was pulled over on Water­son Way, Air­lie Beach. The last in­ci­dent in­volved a 39-year-old South Aus­tralian man, in­ter­cepted on Shute Har­bour Road, Can­non­vale, at 5.17pm on Fe­bru­ary 27, with a breath al­co­hol read­ing of 0.065. Of­fi­cer in Charge of the Whit­sun­day Po­lice Sta­tion, Act­ing Se­nior Sergeant Simon Wal­ter, said th­ese last two read­ings were fairly low and in­di­cated the prac­tice of maybe risk­ing a third or fourth drink.
