One drink too many
THREE drivers have run the gauntlet of driving while over the legal alcohol limit on Whitsunday roads in the past week.
The first was a 31-year-old Strathdickie man, intercepted on Blair Street, Proserpine, at 5.30pm on February 24, with a reading of 0.118. At 7.30pm on February 25, a 30-year-old New South Wales man blew 0.069 after he was pulled over on Waterson Way, Airlie Beach. The last incident involved a 39-year-old South Australian man, intercepted on Shute Harbour Road, Cannonvale, at 5.17pm on February 27, with a breath alcohol reading of 0.065. Officer in Charge of the Whitsunday Police Station, Acting Senior Sergeant Simon Walter, said these last two readings were fairly low and indicated the practice of maybe risking a third or fourth drink.
