Cent sale to raise money for church

LOVERS of a bar­gain are called to the Proser­pine RSL this Satur­day, March 7, with a cent sale set to see any sale­shark sali­vat­ing.

The event is be­ing hosted by St Paul’s Angli­can Church in Proser­pine, with the pro­ceeds be­ing do­nated to keep­ing their good works go­ing in the Whit­sun­day re­gion.

Not only a cent sale, pa­trons will be able to win prizes in a raf­fle and a lucky door draw also oc­cur­ring on the day.

All the prizes on of­fer have been gen­er­ously do­nated by lo­cal Whit­sun­day res­i­dents and busi­nesses, lining up to sup­port the church’s projects. There will be plenty of chance for a chat, even if you are se­ri­ous about your cent sales, with doors open­ing at 12.30pm for a 1.30pm start.

Proser­pine’s Girl Guides are also giv­ing the event a hand, as well as the help­ful grand­chil­dren of some church goes, to de­liver prizes to the suc­cess­ful bid­ders on the day.

It can’t be all se­ri­ous­ness on cent sale day how­ever, with af­ter­noon tea on of­fer to keep buy­ers’ bid­ding arm strong.

A cent sale clas­sic of scones, jam and cream will keep the crowds con­tent, with cold drinks also avail­able to sooth the ner­vous bid­der’s brow.
