Richardson to bolster healthy pack
THE pack will be will stocked at the Brahmans this season, thanks to handy inclusions like Isaac Richardson.
The 19-year-old played under-16 and 18s football with the Newcastle Knights and the Denman Devils before moving north to further his rugby league ambitions.
An electrician by trade, Richardson will bring a strong work ethic to the club, endeavouring to “take the ball up as many times as I can”.
The front row is coming from a “real good set-up” with the Knights, which should hold him in good stead in the Mackay and District Rugby League competition.
“You had fitness trainers and you were in the gym every night and training three times a week,” he said.
“There was a real good leadership program down there as well.”
The Brahmans fell one game short of the grand final last season, but based on what he has seen so far this pre-season, Richardson is confident the club can go one better in 2015.
“It’s looking really good. The side’s shaping together nicely so it should be a good season ahead,” he said.
“Everyone has told me it [the competition] is really strong so I’m keen to get into it.”
Whitsunday’s first game of the year will be against Moranbah on March 21 in Mackay.
