CEO to advocate for Whitsundays
WHITSUNDAY Regional Council Chief Executive Officer Scott Waters has been reappointed to the Mackay-Isaac-Whitsunday Regional Development Australia Committee. Whitsunday Regional Council Mayor Jenny Whitney said the CEO’s reappointment was requested by the Deputy Prime Minister, the Hon Warren Truss MP and is for an 18 month period, ending in August 2016.
“This is a great opportunity for both the CEO and Council, as our continued representation on the local RDA committee guarantees an active voice in advocating the Whitsunday regions’ priorities,” she said. “It is also a good way of working together to strengthen regional economic development in the broader Mackay-Isaac-Whitsunday region. “The RDA Mackay-Isaac-Whitsunday committee’s vision is lifestyle, opportunity and prosperity which was established through extensive engagement with the community, peak bodies and three tiers of Government to map out a pathway forward for the region,” she said.
In Queensland, there are 12 RDA committees that are working to develop local solutions to the economic, social and environmental issues affecting their communities.
