Friends bring in funds at flick

IT WAS set to be a saucy girls' night out filled with love, laughter and masquerades - all in the name of the charity.

However, Logan’s Adventure Playground, the fundraising cause, never expected to walk away with a whopping $4000 from a wine and cheese movie night held at the Proserpine Entertainment Centre on Saturday.

The film of the evening was the much-anticipated 50 Shades of Grey that had attendees giggling and squirming in their seats – some caught up in the sheer romance of it while others found it quite comical.

What was more enjoyed was the fabulous company and wine and cheese put on by the centre and the charity.

Logan’s Adventure Playground project coordinator Kellie Chart felt humbled to have a significant amount of community support behind the cause on the night.

“[It’s] really fantastic that the entertainment centre gives community groups this great opportunity to raise money plus all the other donations we are so grateful for - giving prizes away really does add to the night,” she said.

“It was such a funny night, the atmosphere was electric – people were really looking forward to the night whether they were looking forward to the actual film or not they knew they were in a for a good night.”

The Logan’s Adventure Playground committee are now full steam ahead and taking registrations for their AmateurChef series.

The idea of the AmateurChef series is that people create their own instant restaurant at home where they charge a set amount or simply ask for donations and invite all of their friends. With two already booked in and still plenty of spaces open for the month of March, Ms Chart anticipates more community support towards the cause.

“If you want to get Stage 2 of the playground started sooner rather than later then get involved – every little bit helps and you might win a fantastic dinner at Tides,” she said.
