Meharry passes monthly medal test
New shirts for junior golfers
THE C-grade division produced Saturday’s Airlie Beach Hotel Monthly Medal winner, as George Meharry usurped a strong field.
Meharry carded a nett score of 62 at the Proserpine Golf Club to finish two ahead of C-grade runner-up Justin Butler (64).
For the third time this year the A-grade title was won by Darren Jones (69) ahead of Mick Leo (70).
Barry Mortimer (66) was the B-grade champion, winning over Gary Scotford (68).
The ladies’ Green Energy Technologies Monthly Medal was won by Jo Muller (72), three ahead of runner-up Paula Wronski (75) while Ann Garden (75) and Elspeth Scotford (77) comprised the ball rundown.
The men’s rundown included Pat Patterson (65), Jim Cochrane, Finbar O’Flynn (66), Wayne Fitzgerald, Peter Fox (69), Theunis Venter, John Roser and Gavin Kerwand (70).
The two-shot club was claimed by Mick Leo, Kelvin Stephens (16) and Mandy Pat- terson (9). Meanwhile Rob Raiteri blitzed both divisions on Thursday to claim division 2 with 44 stableford points – four ahead of Mike George (40). John Grosskreutz (38) was the division 1 winner, one clear of Trevor Paroz who eclipsed Andy Pearson, Lance Lloyd, Mick Burrows (37) and Perri Simpson (36) in the ball rundown.
In the division 2 rundown were Ken Wyllie (38), Gary Flannery, Warren Deighton and Peter Lewis (37).
The nine-hole competition went to Ken Wyllie, carding 24 points to beat out Chris Weigand (21).
Peter Lewis, Jim Cochrane, Rob Stanley (21) and Mike George (20) comprised the ball rundown.
Nearest-the-pins went to Chris Doblo (no. 2), John Roser (9), John Grosskreutz (13) and Barry Mortimer (16).
On Saturday players will contest a stableford event over 18-holes while Thursday’s field will fight it out over both nine and 18.
Levi Holmes was the gross and nett winner from Sunday, finishing with 46 and 23.8 respectively.
Jack Raiteri was runner-up with 24.6 while the three-hole competition was contested among 10 players.
The gross winner on the day was Jack Valmadre (18) while Harper Henderson-- Feldman (4) claimed the nett prize ahead of Tayarn Bartley-Looke (22) and Isabelle Kratz (29).
Eighteen ladies turned out for the McNeill Building Monthly Medal at the Proserpine Golf Club last Wednes- day, where Mandy Patterson was crowned victorious.
Mandy finished with 68 to clear Pauline Redpath (70), Lyn Muller (74) and Pam Casey.
Least putts for the day was also won by Mandy (27) while the chip-ins were claimed by Jacqui Wall (no. 5) and Marlene Gray (9).
The nearest-the-pins went to Mandy (no. 13) and Kath Borer (6 and 16) to wrap-up the day’s play.
Next week the ladies will play a four ball best ball at the Proserpine Golf Club.
