Kercher duo kings of the course
THE Kercher name dominated Sunday’s Whitsunday Golf Club round, with father and son duo Dean and Reg winning A and B-grade respectively.
Dean carded 37 at the Proserpine Golf Club at the weekend to win ahead of Ron Jamieson (35) in the Agrade field while Ross Richards claimed the best gross score.
Mick Caton’s drive earned him a prize but it was Dean’s son, Reg, who ensured it was a winning day for the Kercher family.
Reg won B-grade with 39 points, finishing clear of Kevin Mills (32).
The ladies’ victory was Penny Wardroper (44) ahead of Jacqui Wall (32) but it was first time prize winner Leanne Abernethy who stole the division, claiming a maiden longest drive title.
Pauline Redpath rounded out the award winners with the best gross score.
Nearest-the-pins went to Kym Hill (no. 9), Don Hope (13 and 16), Ross Richards (2) and Annie Kercher (16).
This Sunday the Whitsunday Golf Club will host a two-ball ambrose with nine drives each.
WINNERS: Reg Kercher (B-grade), Penny Wardroper (ladies) and Dean Kercher (A-grade) were the toast of the Whitsunday Golf Club on Sunday.
