■ A-grade/reserves Brahmans defeated by Souths 52-6 ■ Under-18 Brahmans defeated by Souths 46-10

The young Brahmans endured an eye-opening experience against last year’s premiers, losing 46-10 at Shark Park.

Despite the score Whitsunday retrieved plenty of positives from the game. Co-coach Matthew Court saved big wraps for Sam Bernett and Sam Young while Matt Kennedy intimidated anyone who dared to run at him in defence with some bruising tackles.

Bowen’s George Prior was a shining light in the backs but Court acknowledged that his team needed to improve their attitude and discipline.

On Friday the club will officially launch their 2015 season at the Metropole Hotel.

Proceedings will commence in the function room from 6.30pm at a cost of $25 per person – which includes hot food.

BOOMING: Whitsunday Brahmans halfback Kieran Anderson kicks down field against Souths Sharks on Saturday in Mackay.
