Man committed for trial
THE husband of a bikini-clad woman who held up a Cannonvale video store while pretending to armed with a gun has now been committed to the District Court for his part in the crime.
Michael John Elliott has been in prison since bail was refused at his first court appearance on December 1.
At the time it was alleged he drove away from the video store with his wife Tammy Ann Mules and their three children in the car. The 35-year-old was then caught drink-driving on Dingo Beach Road.
When asked on Monday if he had anything to say about the charge of robbery in company and while armed, Elliott replied “not at this stage Your Honour”.
Magistrate Haydn Stjernqvist told him he was committed for trial in the Mackay District Court at a date to be notified by the Department of Public Prosecutions.
The remaining charges of drinkdriving, driving without a licence and possessing drugs, utensils and items used in the commission of crime were adjourned to May 4 to allow for an outcome in the District Court.
