Road bikes wel­comed at club cham­pi­onships

THE Whit­sun­day Moto Sports Club held its first club cham­pi­onship of the year on Sun­day with rid­ers trav­el­ling from Mackay to Ma­reeba to at­tend.

Fif­teen bikes hit the tracks in­clud­ing rid­ers from the newly in­tro­duced track days that al­lows road reg­is­tered bikes on the race­way.

Mo­tor­cy­cles race sec­re­tary Mungo Mungo McMur­trie said the new rid­ers en­joyed the chance mea­sure their time on the tracks.

“It’s been well re­ceived and we will con­tinue to hold track day classes and have the ad­di­tional rid­ers in up­com­ing club cham­pi­onships,” he said.

The track day class is open to all ca­pac­i­ties of mo­tor­cy­cles and is a non-com­pet­i­tive class for rid­ers wish­ing to have a ride around the Whit­sun­day Race­way and im­prove their bike skills with­out hav- ing to race.

There will be an ad­di­tional prac­tice for mo­tor­cy­cles at the Whit­sun­day Race­way on March 29.
