Road bikes welcomed at club championships
THE Whitsunday Moto Sports Club held its first club championship of the year on Sunday with riders travelling from Mackay to Mareeba to attend.
Fifteen bikes hit the tracks including riders from the newly introduced track days that allows road registered bikes on the raceway.
Motorcycles race secretary Mungo Mungo McMurtrie said the new riders enjoyed the chance measure their time on the tracks.
“It’s been well received and we will continue to hold track day classes and have the additional riders in upcoming club championships,” he said.
The track day class is open to all capacities of motorcycles and is a non-competitive class for riders wishing to have a ride around the Whitsunday Raceway and improve their bike skills without hav- ing to race.
There will be an additional practice for motorcycles at the Whitsunday Raceway on March 29.
