Club looks forward to Warri Cup

Whitsunday Times - - SPORT -

IT’S onwards and upwards for the Abell Point Yacht Club (APYC) whose members are now looking forward to the popular Warri Cup.

APYC community liaison officer Luke McCaul said the committee was disappointed a strong wind warning meant the cancellation of last weekend’s cruise to Cid Harbour but there was plenty in the pipeline to look forward to still.

“That particular event won’t be re-scheduled but we do have a number of cruises that are planned throughout the year so we’re hoping members aren’t too disappointed,” he said.

Mr McCaul said the club’s next event was its annual Warri Cup, a race for the sailing fleet encompassing a reach out to Langford Island and back.

This is a traditional APYC event, expected to happen in April with dates soon to be confirmed.
