Young­ster comes up trumps in golf

FOL­LOW­ING in the foot­steps of his fa­ther, 14-year-old Gus Muller claimed a big win over the week­end with a Stable­ford score of 43 against a field of 78 other play­ers.

Fin­bar O’Flynn fell to run­ner up by a sin­gle point.

Jo Muller won the Green Tech­nolo­gies comp (39), beat­ing run­ner-up Viv De­mar­tini (37).

In the men’s run­down were Rod Wecker (41), Gavin Ker­wand (39), Peter Fox (38), with John Roser, Dar­ren Jones and Michael Cragg beat­ing one other on count­back, all with 37.

The ladies run­down was Tr­ish McNeill, Jan Shuwalow (36), and El­speth Scot­ford (35).

Near­est the pins was Jim Cochrane on No.2, Peter Fox and Jac­qui Wall (9), Jan Shuwalow (13), and Dave Gates (16). The two shot club jack­pot­ted to next week.

Dave Thomas creamed the field in Thurs­day’s down­pour with a nett 68, giv­ing him the Div. 2 ti­tle.

Peter Krause de­feated Dave Gates on count­back, both with 74, ahead of Bren­dan Me­harry (76).

Div. 1 was taken out by Randy Liquor (70), nar­rowly de­feat­ing John Grosskreutz (71). In the Div. 1 run­down were Mark Thomp­son (73) and Mick Leo (74).

The 9-hole comp went to Dave Gates, beat­ing Thomas on count­back, both with nett 34½.

In the run­down were Peter Fox (34½) and Lance Lloyd (35½). Near­est the pins went to Chris Doblo on No.2, Rob Stan- ley (9), Perri Simp­son (13), and Michael Cragg (16).

JU­NIOR GOLF

Eigh­teen ju­niors teed off for the monthly medal in their new or­ange shirts.

Win­ners were: 3 holers: Gross: Jack Val­madre 23; Is­abelle Kratz 23; Nett: Sam Cre­tan 3; Run­ners-up: Is­abelle Kratz -2 and Lu­cas Cre­tan -2. 6 holers: Gross: Jack Rai­teri 49; Nett: Jack Rai­teri 24; Run­ners-up: Levi Holmes 27 and Daniel Spur­way 27.

Satur­day will be the monthly Ho­tel Metropole Stable­ford, with a Ver­sus Par game on Thurs­day. Tee off times are avail­able from 7.30am on­wards by book­ing on the game sheet in the pro shop.
