Bowlers back from Glen­den comp

ON THE week­end, Proser­pine bowlers Martin Corr, Wayne Han­d­ley, Gavin Milne and Shane Spann came third in the Glen­den In­vi­ta­tional Fours, hav­ing won all three games on the Satur­day be­fore nar­rowly los­ing both Sun­day games.

A team from Seaforth took out first prize.

Sun­day saw a good roll up for so­cial bowls. Norma Daniels and Philip Brown de­feated Fran Porter and Kevin Thoro­good 21-14; John Hen­der­son and Vince Olsen de­feated Arthur Wil­liams and Bar­bara Dam­mash 2319; Trudy Hanne, Dot Hin­schen and Reg Rus­sell de­feated Car­lie Al­bert­son, Jo Peasley and Barry Zill­mann 37-20; Kevin Duell, Gail Camm and Joy Jef­fries de­feated John Lah­ney, Wendy Pomeroy and Heather Brown 26-16.

Three Proser­pine play­ers are off to Moss­man this week­end, with the Mackay Dis­trict Side to play in the North­ern Chal­lenge.

We wish Gavin Milne, Shane Spann and Michael Kin­n­ear all the best over the week­end and look for­ward to hear­ing about their play.


On Wed­nes­day, two games of Club Cham­pi­onship Fours were played by the Proser­pine Ladies Bowl­ing Club.

Vicki Spann, Fran Porter, Mar­garet Rus­sell (sub for June Blair) and Heather Brown de­feated An­nette Pat­ullo, Amy Hart, Flo O’Han­lon and Heather Pat­ullo 21-19.

In the first semi-fi­nal, Cathy Holmes, Dot Hin­schen, Joyce Pat­ullo and Gail Camm de­feated Janet Mor­timer, Wendy Pomeroy, Lois Read and Ma­ree Daf­fara 16-14.

On Sun­day, Janet Mor­timer de­feated Heather Pat­ullo 25-16 in a Club Cham­pi­onship Sin­gles bowl.

The club has a team play­ing at City Bowls Club in the Un­ders and Overs Car­ni­val this week and two teams play­ing in the Mas­ter Pairs at North Mackay.

Wel­come to Mary Hedge­long, now of­fi­cially a mem­ber of Proser­pine Ladies Bowl­ing Club. The club’s an­nual Triples Car­ni­val is com­ing up on March 30. So far there are 15 teams nom­i­nated.
