Bowlers back from Glenden comp
■ PROSERPINE BOWLS
ON THE weekend, Proserpine bowlers Martin Corr, Wayne Handley, Gavin Milne and Shane Spann came third in the Glenden Invitational Fours, having won all three games on the Saturday before narrowly losing both Sunday games.
A team from Seaforth took out first prize.
Sunday saw a good roll up for social bowls. Norma Daniels and Philip Brown defeated Fran Porter and Kevin Thorogood 21-14; John Henderson and Vince Olsen defeated Arthur Williams and Barbara Dammash 2319; Trudy Hanne, Dot Hinschen and Reg Russell defeated Carlie Albertson, Jo Peasley and Barry Zillmann 37-20; Kevin Duell, Gail Camm and Joy Jeffries defeated John Lahney, Wendy Pomeroy and Heather Brown 26-16.
Three Proserpine players are off to Mossman this weekend, with the Mackay District Side to play in the Northern Challenge.
We wish Gavin Milne, Shane Spann and Michael Kinnear all the best over the weekend and look forward to hearing about their play.
On Wednesday, two games of Club Championship Fours were played by the Proserpine Ladies Bowling Club.
Vicki Spann, Fran Porter, Margaret Russell (sub for June Blair) and Heather Brown defeated Annette Patullo, Amy Hart, Flo O’Hanlon and Heather Patullo 21-19.
In the first semi-final, Cathy Holmes, Dot Hinschen, Joyce Patullo and Gail Camm defeated Janet Mortimer, Wendy Pomeroy, Lois Read and Maree Daffara 16-14.
On Sunday, Janet Mortimer defeated Heather Patullo 25-16 in a Club Championship Singles bowl.
The club has a team playing at City Bowls Club in the Unders and Overs Carnival this week and two teams playing in the Master Pairs at North Mackay.
Welcome to Mary Hedgelong, now officially a member of Proserpine Ladies Bowling Club. The club’s annual Triples Carnival is coming up on March 30. So far there are 15 teams nominated.
