I READ with in­ter­est of last week’s edi­tion in re­la­tion to the Whit­sun­day VMR boat ramp and our Mem­ber for Whit­sun­day’s com­ments.

Not sur­pris­ingly, while Ja­son Costi­gan gal­li­vants up and down the high­way on a ‘lis­ten­ing tour’ with the Qld LNP, we again have no choice but to lis­ten to his ju­ve­nile and un­nec­es­sary re­marks about our re­gion’s con­cerns and its fu­ture.

Of course, it took an elec­tion for the Mem­ber to com­mit to up­grad­ing the boat ramp. Un­for­tu­nately, in the last three years of the for­mer New­man gov­ern­ment, we could have se­cured fund­ing through the Marine In­fra­struc­ture Fund – a $50 mil­lion ini­tia­tive specif­i­cally for recre­ational boat­ing in­fra­struc­ture projects.
