Hotel gears up for weekend celebrations
IT’S not everyday a pub owner can celebrate 25 years in the one business but this weekend is exactly what Reef Gateway Hotel owner John O’Neill and his staff will do and everyone is invited to join on the fun.
From Friday, March 27 until Sunday, March 29, the Reef Gateway Hotel will be hosting three days of celebrations to acknowledge the ownership of one of Whitsunday’s favourite pubs.
On Friday from 4-8pm, five $500 draws will be drawn every hour.
Amazing bottle shop specials will be available all day (and night) on Saturday.
But Sunday is tipped to be the highlight of the weekend with the Reef Gateway Hotel giving away a boat at 4pm.
Celebrations on Sunday will be held from 2-5.30pm with local band Fraud Squad kicking it all off.
Reef Gateway Hotel general manager Craig Bradley said all staff were eager for the weekend celebrations and expected it to be well supported by the community.
“The Reef Gateway has been a big part of Whitsunday locals’ lives for a long time and this is a great way to mark 25 years,” he said.
“Over time the hotel has been a cyclone shelter, has hosted sportsman dinners, bullaramas, many fundraisers and local events, countless weddings, ANZAC Day commemorations, Melbourne Cup celebrations and is still a meeting hub for local groups such as Zonta, Quota International, Rotary Club Airlie Beach and Probus Clubs – just to name a few.”
The Reef Gateway Hotel is also heavily involved with local sport and Mr Bradley said the hotel had sponsored many sporting teams in the region such as the Proserpine Brahmans, Whitsunday Bald Eagles, Whitsunday Football Club, Cannonvale Swimming Cannons, Whitsun- day Moto Sports Club, Cannonvalley Pony Club, Whitsunday Sea Eagles and Proserpine Cricket.
Reef Gateway Hotel owner John O’Neill is feeling humbled that the hotel staff and patrons will acknow- ledge his ownership this weekend.
“This weekend is not just about me but thanking our loyal customers, dedicated staff and giving back to the Whitsunday community for having me,” he said.
