LO­CAL his­tory buffs are in for a treat with to­mor­row’s re­lease of the ea­gerly awaited ‘Pi­o­neers of Air­line Beach’.

The book, a sec­ond vol­ume on the devel­op­ment of Air­lie Beach and the pi­o­neers who made it hap­pen, has been com­piled by lo­cal res­i­dent Dale Hell and will be of­fi­cially launched at the Can­non­vale Li­brary to­mor­row, Fri­day, March 27, at 2pm.

Whit­sun­day mayor Jen­nifer Whit­ney said in­ter­ested mem­bers of the com­mu­nity were in­vited to come along.

“Lo­cal iden­tity Dale Hell com­piled [this] book, which fol­lows on from her suc­cess­ful ‘Pi­o­neers of Air­lie Beach’ pub­lished in 2014,” she ex­plained.

“Both books pro­vide an in­ter­est­ing in­sight into the trans­for­ma­tion of Air­lie Beach from a small fish­ing and hol­i­day vil­lage to the ma­jor tourist des­ti­na­tion it is to­day.”
