Pioneers in print
LOCAL history buffs are in for a treat with tomorrow’s release of the eagerly awaited ‘Pioneers of Airline Beach’.
The book, a second volume on the development of Airlie Beach and the pioneers who made it happen, has been compiled by local resident Dale Hell and will be officially launched at the Cannonvale Library tomorrow, Friday, March 27, at 2pm.
Whitsunday mayor Jennifer Whitney said interested members of the community were invited to come along.
“Local identity Dale Hell compiled [this] book, which follows on from her successful ‘Pioneers of Airlie Beach’ published in 2014,” she explained.
“Both books provide an interesting insight into the transformation of Airlie Beach from a small fishing and holiday village to the major tourist destination it is today.”
