PROSER­PINE’S ju­nior cricket sea­son will con­clude on Fri­day night with pre­sen­ta­tions.

Last Fri­day was the last for­mal round of fix­tures; how­ever the club will host a sea­son wind-up with a bar­be­cue and award pre­sen­ta­tions at the Kelsey Creek Cricket Grounds from 4pm.

On the pitch the ju­niors went out in style with a se­ries of close en­coun­ters.

The un­der-15 Taipans and Cy­clones played their twenty20 game, with the for­mer mak­ing first use of the wicket.

Howard McDon­ald (10) and War­wick Watts (19) got Taipans away to a fast start be­fore the Cy­clones pegged them back with ac­cu­rate bowl­ing. Adam Skaife, Jay O’Lough­lin, Noel Waipape and Zac May­nard each took wickets, re­duc­ing Taipans to 81.

In re­ply Zac May­nard (23) and Jay­den Lane (18) scored freely be­fore Mat Shoe- bridge (17) and Re­gan Knight chimed in late.

Mat Hansen, Jack Dwyer and Max Ber­nett each bowled well, how­ever it wasn’t enough, as Cy­clones con­cluded their innings at 107.

Proser­pine Red and Blue were next to face-off, con­test­ing a twenty20 match.

Blues bat­ted first and were led by Lach­lan Ed­mond­son (14), Ted Wat­son (10) and Greg Chap­man (9) in their to­tal of 47.

Jack Pini (14), Josh Wat­son (17), Max Wat­son (13) and John Fred­er­ick­son (17) made scor­ing look easy in re­ply, as the Reds fin­ished their innings on 80 runs.

The mini-crick­eters played a game of dou­ble-wicket with a num­ber of play­ers find­ing the bound­ary.

In other news, the club would like to thank all par­ents and vol­un­teers who have helped through­out the sea­son.
