Promoting Whitsundays to China

Whitsunday Times - - BUSINESS -

PREPARATIONS are in full swing to welcome about 200 certified travel agents, tour operators and wholesalers from mainland China, Hong Kong and Taiwan on Hamilton Island as part of Corroboree Greater China 2015.

This important Australiabased trade event provides Australian tourism operators with an opportunity to train qualified Aussie Specialist agents on their products and experiences.

The agents are front-line retail agents who actively sell Australia as a preferred long- haul destination to Chinese travellers.

WMDL, in partnership with Tourism Australia and Tourism and Events Queensland, will also host three dedicated familiarisations in the Whitsundays to showcase the region to key buyers.

In May, the region is also welcoming several international media guests.

This week, digital influencer Matthew Long will explore all the Whitsundays has to offer, followed by visits from journalists from Elle Magazine (Germany), Islands Magazine (US) and wellknown personality and radio host Lorna Subritzky from Coast Radio (New Zealand).

The Whitsundays will also be promoted to China through Chinese TV program Super Tour Group.

The film crew and an inaugural group of Chinese tra- vellers will visit the region at the end of this month, with the program going to air in June.

The itinerary will be sold as a travel package when the show goes to air.

The program will also be supported via promotions on the station’s social media channels and digital assets.

There are many more activities scheduled over the coming months, including a major marketing campaign that will launch in our key southern markets. Stay tuned.
